Lancom Technology Renews ISO 27001 Security Certification

Written by Lancom Technology, April 2025

Acknowledging cybersecurity as an essential component of managed services and software development delivery, Lancom Technology has renewed the ISO 27001 certification it has held since 2022. The certification combines with the recent announcement of its achievement of Microsoft Security Solution Designation to provide clients and partners with the confidence that all services are delivered with integrity.

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (known as ISO 27001) is an internationally recognised information security standard published and routinely updated by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). It’s an official specification for information security, setting out the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system (ISMS).

Lancom Technology CEO Priscila Bernardes describes secure practices as the baseline for digital success. “Secure data and secure operations are a non-negotiable today. Our customers trust us every day to keep their information and data secure, a responsibility we take very seriously.”

She adds that information security and associated practices (including physical security) are a moving target, requiring regular updates not only to standards, but technology, ways of working, and knowledge.

The ISMS equips an organization to systematically manage sensitive data, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The ISO certification process includes conducting a risk assessment, defining security policies, implementing controls (e.g., access management, encryption, and incident response), and undergoing regular audits by an accredited certification body to verify compliance.

It requires ongoing employee training, documentation, and continuous improvement to address evolving threats.

Bernardes says ISO certification matters because it demonstrates commitment to robust cybersecurity, builds trust with clients and partners, ensures compliance with regulations, and reduces the risk of data breaches, which can lead to financial and reputational damage; IBM estimates that in 2024, the average cyber breach costs around US$4.8 million.

“It isn’t only about protecting data, but also about establishing and maintaining appropriate ways of working along with structures for data access and usage throughout the organisation.”

Achieving ISO 27001 re-certification is a team effort, Bernardes explains, and included external examination administered by founding member of ISO, the British Standards Institution. She says BSI completed a rigorous audit of Lancom Technology’s processes and systems, affirming a continuous and systematic approach to managing and protecting both company and customer data.

However, it isn’t about certifications hanging on the boardroom walls, Bernardes adds. “As part of good practice, everyone within Lancom Technology looks out for one another so we can be sure of running a secure and compliant operation at all times, and not just when the auditors are visiting.”
