Lancom Technology appoints Murray Newman as CFO

As growth accelerates from a regional operator to an international provider of managed services, cloud infrastructure and software development, Lancom Technology has made another key hire adding exceptional talent to its senior leadership team. A chartered accountant with more than two decades of technology industry experience, Murray Newman joins Lancom after a 16-month period in the education sector.

Previously, he was CFO and a director at NTT New Zealand (formerly Dimension Data) and long-term CFO and General Manager, Corporate Services at Microsoft enterprise specialist Intergen which is now part of Capgemini.

Lancom Technology CEO Priscila Bernardes says Newman’s appointment strengthens an executive team with deep enterprise experience. “Murray is a highly accomplished director with an extensive leadership track record across finance, strategy and commercial operations. As we consolidate our growth and prepare for the next phase of our mission to scale, he’s a welcome addition to the team.”

Newman says his time in the education sector reinforced the value of industry knowledge. “You can get up to speed quickly, but there are always nuances. In technology, an effective CFO does far more than watch the books. I’m looking to add value by mentoring emerging leaders, optimising working capital, and strengthening the structures and processes that help us better serve customers and create sustainable value through technology.”

Newman says he was impressed by Lancom Technology’s elite AWS and Microsoft credentials, describing them as an important foundation for scale. “That certainly played a part in my decision to join, along with the team itself. Lancom Technology has a long association with hyperscale cloud providers AWS and Microsoft, continually building certifications across its team that contribute to advanced partner status. In recent months, the company has achieved the AWS Managed Service Provider designation and the Microsoft Modern Work Enterprise designation, top-tier recognitions reflecting enterprise capability.
