When Pablo Matamoros joined Atlantis Health as CITO (Chief Information and Technology Officer), he faced a clear challenge: support the growth of the company’s global patient support services with an appropriate combination of technology services.

The Situation

Atlantis Healthcare’s mission is high stakes: delivering tailored patient support in a heavily regulated environment. With a mix of on-premises servers ranging from Active Directory to file share services in an Auckland data center, and with a growing reliance on AWS for client-facing digital solutions, the company faced sought to optimize maintenance costs, risks, and complexity.

Matamoros, tasked with modernizing the IT estate, needed a managed services partner with expertise in AWS and Microsoft ecosystems, ISO certification, and the ability to provide reliable, round-the-clock support. “We’re not in the business of running a data center,” he notes. “And while we were managing well enough, with increasing scale we took the decision to hand that responsibility to those better suited for it.”

Atlantis also sought scalability to support new office openings and staff onboarding, alongside flexibility to explore the emerging world of AI solutions for enhanced productivity. The goal was clear: shift towards a fully supported future-ready IT foundation that could keep up with a dynamic, global business.

The Solution

Lancom Technology was selected to overhaul Atlantis’s IT operations, offering the ideal combination of AWS Advanced Consulting Partnership for infrastructure, and Microsoft Solutions Partner designations to help with front end productivity applications, and proven managed services capabilities.

Matamoros adds that Lancom’s ISO 27001 certification was a further factor, assuring secure operations and practices.

“Lancom’s transparency and reliability were exactly what we were looking for,” Matamoros says. “They brought knowledge and experience of supporting multiple international organizations, so we were confident in their ability to meet our requirements.”

Lancom’s multifaceted solution addressed immediate pain points while laying the groundwork for long-term scalability:

  • 24/7 Managed Services: Lancom’s always-on model delivers rapid response times for user issues, including onboarding and provisioning, and coordinating with local partners for office relocations, such as the German office move in late 2024. This supports user satisfaction, particularly for overseas teams.
  • AWS Infrastructure Modernization: Lancom migrated internal infrastructure from on-premises servers to AWS. By early 2025, one modernization project was complete, with a second underway to close the Auckland data center entirely, moving all workloads to the AWS cloud.
  • AI and Productivity Exploration: Lancom is working with Atlantis to explore and easing staff into appropriate AI tools without straining internal resources.
  • Vendor Coordination: Matamoros commends Lancom’s forthright approach to its own capabilities, referring Atlantis to specialized partners where appropriate.

The transition was seamless, with Lancom’s structured processes and proactive approach earning praise. “It’s been a case of a partner which knows its own capabilities very well, putting that to use for our benefit to keep things moving. And that’s appreciated,” Matamoros says.

The Results

Six months into the partnership, the impact is clear. “Lancom’s support has been a game-changer,” Matamoros reflects. “The satisfaction internally, especially in our overseas offices, has increased significantly, to the extent that there’s now a very high expectation of quality service delivery.”

In addition to a generally enhanced user experience with rapid response times addressing previous delays, the shift to a fully cloud-based environment is eliminating on-premises servers, reducing maintenance costs and risks.

The AWS cloud combined with Lancom’s managed services enables efficient scaling of IT resources to match business requirements, along with extensibility. New locations and personnel, in other words, are readily established and provisioned with the necessary technology tools to get to work.

Matamoros says additional assurance in the highly regulated healthcare industry comes thanks to Lancom Technology’s ISO certification and structured processes. ‘There’s a lot to be said for managed services and infrastructure support delivery aligned with our regulatory standards, which offloads compliance burdens,” he notes.
