1. Who is this offer for and is it really free?

2. Who is this offer for and is it really free?

With the introduction of an Auckland Region, your data stays in New Zealand. AWS data centers are among the world's most sophisticated, secure and resilient, offering levels of protection and storage well beyond the capability of private on-premises systems.

3. Is it secure?

AWS data centers secure data through a multi-layered approach, combining stringent physical access controls with multi-factor authentication, 24/7 CCTV surveillance, and intrusion detection, alongside environmental protections like strategic site selection, redundant power, climate control, and fire suppression. Digital protections include firewalls, encryption, key management, and global standards compliance.

4. How do I access my resources?

Secure access is available through multiple channels, including the AWS Management Console for web-based management, the AWS CLI for command-line control, SDKs for programmatic integration, and APIs for custom application access. Tools like AWS IAM ensure secure authentication with MFA, roles, and permissions, while services like Amazon S3, EBS, or VPC enable data access via encrypted connections, including VPN or AWS Direct Connect.

5. Does an AWS migration impact user experience?

Transitioning to the AWS cloud, hosted in the Auckland Region, offers unparalleled flexibility through secure, internet-based access to data and services. Lancom Technology prioritizes maintaining a consistent user experience throughout the migration process. We collaborate closely with your team to ensure familiarity and comfort with the new environment, conducting thorough testing before the transition. Our meticulous approach ensures end users experience little to no disruption, delivering a seamless and familiar experience comparable with their existing setup.

6. Do I have to sign a fixed contract?

Migration to AWS is free under the terms of this agreement, but it still comes at a cost. In exchange, we are looking for a Managed Services commitment of 36 months. There are no traps here, and Lancom Technology has a hard-earned reputation for quality delivery. Our contracts are flexible with regular review clauses ensuring reciprocal value creation and a comfortable partnership.

7. What if the cloud provider disappears?

AWS is a hyperscale cloud provider and one of the most accomplished and innovative service providers of this kind. Globally, multiple essential healthcare, financial, education and transport services (to name a few) rely on these same providers. AWS is an institution worldwide, has recently invested significantly in New Zealand, and is growing rapidly.

8. Is there downtime with the cloud?

AWS provides varying availability commitments through its Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for different services, typically expressed as a Monthly Uptime Percentage. Generally, the Region-Level SLA is 99.99%. Downtime is always a possibility - but it is unlikely, and generally well ahead of on-premises availability.

10. What happens if my requirements change during the support period?

Businesses grow and change all the time. Your dedicated Customer Success Manager works closely with you to review current and projected support requirements, scaling them appropriately to accurately match your needs.

11. Do the charges change during the contract?

Managed services attract a transparent fixed monthly fee during the contract period. The fee is based user numbers and the types of technology you’re working with. Whilst the fee is fixed, your Customer Success Manager conducts routine reviews. Should requirements change dramatically – if your number of users doubles or halves for example - the fee is amended accordingly.

12. Can I cancel my contract?

Yes, absolutely. Lancom Technology is committed to mutual value creation. If the relationship isn’t working out, we can talk. However, if we’ve just invested in moving you to the cloud and you decide you want to walk away, we think it’s fair you pay for the migration.

13. What are the billing intervals?

We provide a monthly fixed fee bill.

14. Is cloud consumption cost on top of the managed services cost?

Yes, these are two separate services. You pay for your use of the cloud services (cloud consumption) and the managed support. As part of our migration process, we’ll calculate your expected monthly cloud consumption so there are no surprises. Remember, once in the AWS cloud, hardware and licensing costs (along with electricity and other on-premises expenses) are permanently eliminated.

15. Why is the managed services agreement for 36 months?

We take a partnership approach and look to create win-win outcomes. For customers, the win is getting to the cloud smoothly with a trusted partner invested in your success. For us, the win is certainty over the initial duration of our partnership. Throughout, we'll work to create and deliver value that underpins long-term engagements.
